Her book Ghosts in the Schoolyard: Racism and School Closings on Chicago’s South Side explores the relationship between the closing of public schools and the structural history of race and racism.

Wayne Au is an educator, activist, and scholar who focuses on issues of race, class, and power in schooling. He is a professor at the University of Washington-Bothell and is an editor of the social justice teacher magazine Rethinking Schools.
